Creativity is a struggle

Hi there!

It has been a hot minute since I last wrote a blog post.

To be honest with you, these past couple of weeks I have felt very uninspired and uncreative whatsoever. The NYX Face Awards really sucked everything out of me. It was really frustrating that I could not be creative in my work anymore because the competition required so much time and effort.

I was sad that I could not perform as I would usually do and create things that I genuinely wanted to.

Many projects that I wanted to get down to earlier, I couldn’t do, which was very annoying! I planned on doing more eye looks, more blog posts, more Youtube videos. But again, I just didn’t have the time or the energy to accomplish all of it.IMG_3723[1]

When I got the news that I didn’t make it to TOP5 I was of course very disappointed. Then after a couple of hours I actually felt RELEAVED! (Even if a trip to LA wouldn’t have been THAT bad!) I finally had the time to do MY stuff again, things that I wanted to do and I could fully enjoy my holidays in Italy. It definitely was a break I needed!

I’m not saying that the NYX Face Awards we’re a bad experience or anything. I simply felt alot of pressure and kind of limited for other projects.

Finding your creativity is not always easy, especially when you are working in an environment where it is mandatory to perform. For me, I can be creative when I feel inspired, by people, art, music. If I feel restricted or locked up it is hard for me to be my full self.

That is exactly how I felt these past weeks and what made me not like the competition or my work so much. It was really difficult for me to be creative in that kind of sense. Although the theme selection was great. I think it’s just not the way I work and I am glad I know that now!IMG_4432[1]

Whilst we were in Italy, I had the time to think about where I want to be in the future career wise and what I want to become. With my beauty school graduation coming up, this was an important issue I had to approach.  I will definitely continue to show my work but I am not sure how yet. There will be changes on my blog as well as my new website (coming up soon!). I am not sure if I want to continue YT the way I did or if I will change things up there as well (let’s be real, I haven’t been posting alot there either! Schedule or vlogging maybe? ).

I am very excited for new things to come and maybe even a new chapter in my life as well!

I will keep you posted!

How to | Depotting MAC Lipsticks

As a makeup artist you always try to make the most out of your kit. You want everything to IMG_2695be organised and neat. It is key to a fast and professional work.

Especially when it comes to lipsticks it can get confusing and tedious.

I want to show you an easy way to make sure all of your lipsticks are in one place and you no longer have to carry around heaps of lipstick tubes.

Here’s what you’ll need:

Your Favourite Lipsticks
Some kind of spatula or knife
A spoon

  • Candle
  • Matches
  • Some paper towel
  • MAC Palette

First of all you want to measure your lipstick and cut off how much you would want to IMG_2707put in your palette. For the MAC palette I recommen using around 2/3 of the lipstick. Place it in your spoon.

As a next step you will hold the spoon over your burning candle an MELT the lipstick.

Caution: Make sure the lipstick does not boil and doesn’t get too hot. It should just melt evenly.

Once it has melted, just simply pour it in your palette. Don’t worry if you mess up, you IMG_2712can always clean up the edges. Let it dry for around 5 minutes.

And you are done!

Quick tip: Make sure to put the name tags of the lipsticks on the bottom of the palette for reference if someone asks you or you run out of it.

I hope this was helpful to you! Keep an eye out for a upcoming Youtube video where I explain everything in detail.

Lots of love, Patricia

Hello everyone!

This post is a rather exciting post!

I entered the very first edition of the NYX Face Awards in Switzerland.

Look | Bronze Grunge

I just recently came back from my London trip where I, of course, went makeup shopping.

We popped into MAC at Covent Garden and I finally got my hands on their ‘Copper’ pigment which has been sold out everywhere in Switzerland. I was so excited to finally do a look with it.

Here’s the look I created

Smashbox – Primer Water

Guerlain – L’Or Primer

Laura Mercier – Setting Powder

NYX Cosmetics – Concealer Palette in Light; Blush ‘Taupe’ for contouring

Essence Cosmetics – Clear Gloss

MAC Cosmetics – Copper Pigment

I really love these more Editorial/Grungy looks! What do you think?

Really hope you like it as much as I do.

Review | Chateau M

I heard Sam Chapman (pixiwoos) talk about this limited edition ‘Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour’ from MAC in one of her Youtube videos, so of course I had to give it a try!

As part of their Helmut Newton collection they have launched a few different shades a while back now. I just got my hands on ‘Chateau M’ and I am so excited that I have found the most perfect shade of red.

It’s not too orange or bluetoned, but it’s just this true red color. It suits my skin and eye color very nicely.

When applying it  almost a bit liquidy but dries in this most beautiful creamy matte finish. And I must say: This stuff stays put!

I wore it to work the other day and it did not budge at all. In my job I usually talk alot and this liquid Lipstick didn’t bother at all. Even after luch I wouldn’t  have to reapply since it left kind of a stain.

I paired it with e strong black liner, lashes and some glittery accents in my inner corner to make it a bit more dramatic.

I really like these kind of looks. They’re  pretty simple but can make a huge impact. Red lips can be intimidating at first, but the right shade of red can make you look fresh and put toghether in an instant.

This will definitely be one of my staples from now on!

What is yout favourite red lip?
